Hello and welcome to Mercury Tutors. We are a network of professional math, science, English, Spanish, and SAT tutors in the South Bay and Orange County cities (from north to south) of El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes, Long Beach, Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Laguna, Dana Point, and San Clemente.

My name is Joseph Tillotson and I created this web site with the sole purpose of matching up great tutors in the area with students who can benefit from their services.

If you aren't sure if there is someone in the network for your student's subject and city you may email or call and I'll let you know who is available in our network. In your email please list the subject(s) and city you live in.

Our SAT specialist is Aly (see link to left), who lives in Newport Beach, but about twice per week travels north to Torrance, so is available to teach in neighborng cities as well as cities between Torrance and Newport Beach. She is one of the top rated SAT specialists in Southern California....while at Kaplan her pupils' scores improved the most out of 140 SAT prep specialists in her region.

The network has been in existence since 2005 and as such we have a well rounded knowledge of the many local curriculums.

To the left you can click a name to view a detailed profile of that tutor, which includes such info as his/her education, tutoring experience, subjects taught, and cities he/she will travel to.

I've ordered the tutor profile links to the left from top to bottom in geographical order, with the top person being the highest north in the South Bay cities from PV to Manhattan beach, the middle names around the Seal beach & Huntington Beach area, and the tutors at the bottom around the lower areas or Orange County by Dana Point and San Clemente.

I got my start tutoring around 2003, and was on the Marymount College Math Faculty from 2004 to 2007. While there I spent several hours per week in the learning center, where I tutored math to students in a one to one environment. I particularly enjoyed helping students with ADD and other auditory processing issues, and was very often the tutor these students would go to for math help. As we are not a company we pay no money for bookkeepers, office rent, web masters (I maintain the site myself), executives' salaries, and other expenses incurred by other tutoring companies. Each tutor makes his/her own competitive rate and is paid directly. This set up allows the tutors to charge less and keep more, which in turn attracts the best tutors into our network.

I have hand-picked each tutor and only accept those of the highest caliber into the network....checking references and past employers, and following up with current families to ensure that only those who get great results with their pupils remain on this site.
